  • (for photographers and creatives)

Storytelling isn't restricted to the village elder, or the charismatic public speaker. It doesn't require a university degree, and it doesn't respect status, gender or talent. From the very beginning of life - before cameras, or pencils, or even paper - people told stories. Stories that moved others to action, to emotion, to new ideas. Story was, and still is, the most influential tool humans have to capture attention and shift others' perspectives.

As photographers and visual artists, we carry that same power - to move our audience - but most of us are unaware of exactly how to craft our stories, resulting in us simply presenting information. As beautiful, talented or clever our information is, it doesn't do the same work as story. They are different crafts.

This talk introduces some practical storytelling tools for photographers, and the philosophies behind them. It is an encouraging reminder for all artists and creatives that the work they produce matters, and has the potential for great meaning and influence in the world.

  • (for leaders and teams)

It’s easy to be the lead character in your own story, but what roles are you playing in the stories of others? And what roles might you need to play, to draw the best out of them?

Nathan’s affirming keynote explores key character archetypes of story, and places them in the context of our own relationships and connections. An encouraging and eye-opening session for leaders, teams, and client-facing professionals.

“My biggest takeaway was an awareness of what my own role is in my own story - and what my role is in other people’s stories - and being considerate of who I want to be to them and who I want to be to myself.”

Workshops
